Maldives!!! Indeed it is Paradise on earth. I can assure you that anyone who has visited the archipelago would agree.

Just to give you an idea, the country is spread across 1500 sq.km. and has around 1200 islands, of which only around 300 are inhabited. The total population of the country is approx. 300,000 and as far as i recollect, the place is just 6ft above mean sea level.

That said, I am sure you can imagine how virgin and beautiful this country is. The very first thing that you will notice is the amazing turquoise blue waters and the lovely white sands. We were visiting the Sheraton Resort, which is very close to the airport and is a 15 minute speed boat ride. The resorts that take more than 45 minutes by speed boat are generally connected by sea planes, which again is something that is worth trying. The ride to the Resort is nice and wonderful. What excites you the most is the water and how clean it is!!!

I also found out that in Maldives they have a concept of ‘one island – one resort’, which is absolutely wonderful and apt. The resort itself was just lovely and the staff was very courteous. We had chosen to stay in an island cottage the first 2 days and then in a water villa. Both the rooms were just amazing, especially the water villa’s! I have been told that most resorts have similar options.

Things you must do are Snorkelling, Diving, Water sports, Sun Bathe, Dolphin cruise, Spa visits, visit Male city and JUST RELAX. The place is absolutely romantic, picturesque and is something that HAS to be a part of your bucket list!!!

P.S.: don’t forget to look out of the window of your aircraft on your approach….thank me later!!! 🙂
